For a large-scale retail promotion we selected a complete set of three suitcases — cabin, medium and large — to be given away to the first 200 customers buying a dishwasher taking part in the initiative. Our research on the Asian market covered manufacturer, materials, construction, wheels, handles, finishes and overall quality, with a sampling phase before supply.
A central element of the project was logistics. The set was chosen so that the small suitcase fits inside the medium one and the medium inside the large one, greatly reducing the volume taken up during transport and storage.
The project shows how, in large-scale retail promotions, product choice must consider not only aesthetics and price but also packaging, volumes and logistics costs. For confidentiality reasons we do not disclose the client's name.
